Revolution Discovery Night

Tonight (Wednesday Nov 16th) we are inviting everyone from the local Church community to come to a special information night at the Youth Centre, starting at 7pm. You will learn all about Revolution Youth, here testimonies from teens, and maybe even participate in some UPRISE activities. A light Supper will be provided. See the flyer that is attached. Feel free invite others from your Church and other Churches in town.

Summer Camp Meeting

We are having a planning meeting for Summer Camp 2012 this Saturday (Nov 19th). If you are interested in coming to the meeting or need more details, talk to Jono.

Summer Camp Fundraisers

We have a few fundraisers in the pipeline for the Summer Camp. We have a car wash at Ando’s coming up (date to be confirmed at the date we did have got change due to a miscommunication and is now taken by someone else).Some of the teens have been busily working to organise a special fundraiser—a Movie Night at the Pool on Saturday Dec 3rd. These teens are passionate about it, and it is great to see them take the lead in organising. They are looking for volunteers to fulfil certain roles so please talk to Brooke O’Neill, Kaylee Horne, Caitlin Phoebe, James Lavers, or Katie Enriquez (or one of the other teens). I believe that Kaylee is incharge of volunteers.

We are also looking at doing a Sausage Sizzle at Two Dog in mid December, so stay tuned for more detail.

– Revolution Youth aims to reach the youth of Merredin and surrounds, and connect them with Christians that will help and encourage them to grow closer to God, produce Godly fruit, and discover a life that honours Jesus as Lord, Saviour, and King.

Forthcoming Christian Events in Merredin

The Merredin United in Prayer gathering for July will be held at the Uniting Church in Fifth Street – the Anglican and Church of Christ Congregations will be leading the evening of prayer starting at 7pm.

On the weekend (the fifth Weekend in July) the Serpentine Jarrahdale Anglican congregation (The congregation that the Rev’d Prue Littleton is with when she is not here) will be coming up to Merredin. Saturday evening we are having a shared tea – feel free to come along and share with us and our Christian brothers and sisters from the metropolitan area.

Please note that we will be gathering at the Senior Centre not at Apthorp Hall as previously advertised.

You are also invited to join with us on Sunday for a 10am Eucharist Service followed by a light lunch.

Merredin’s Community Carol Service is at Merredin Senior High School on Sunday December 12th.
Sausage Sizzle at 6pm with the carols commencing at 7pm.
It’s a fundraiser for the High School Chaplaincy.

Relevant Church Seminar

On Saturday the 28th of August Rev Dr Chris Walker will be conducting a seminar titled, “Relevant Church”.

Chris Walker is the National Consultant for Theology & Discipleship for The Uniting Church in Australia. Chris has served in a range of positions and places in the Uniting Church including local church ministry in three congregations in NSW, as a regional education and mission officer, and consultantfor evangelism and discipleship, in Queensland, as principal of Parkin-Wesley College in SA, and as a mission resource officer for Parramatta-Nepean Presbytery.

Chris has a passion for theology, mission and discipleship. His interest in writing has resulted in various publications including five books, “Seeking Relevant Churches for the 21st Century” and most recently “Peace Like A Diamond: facets of peace” and “Living Life to the Full: Spirituality for today’s baby boomers.”

The seminar will commence at 9.00am at Merredin Uniting Church on Fifth Street, Merredin. For more information you can download the seminar brochure here.

Prayer for Rain

The Churches in Merredin are responding to an urgent need to seek the Lord for rain in the district.

The format will be in one hour blocks (come for one hour or for all the time!) comprising singing, talk, prayer and a 10 minute break.

The focus in each hour is:

7pm Praise & Gratitude – David de Kock (UCA)
8pm Needs of farming communities outside our sphere – Clark Riggins (SDA)
9pm Repentance & Supplication – Wayne Manoni (CoC)
10pm Rain needed for …. – Ken Cooper
