Pastor’s Notes February 12 2012
A reminder of our activities this year:
ALPHA – We are doing the Alpha Talks (a basic teaching about the things which Christians believe) at our morning services throughout the Parish for the first part of the year. It is a good place to invite your friends and family who don’t regularly go to church and who might be interested in finding out about what you believe. On Saturday April 28th we will have specific teaching about the Holy Spirit in three separate sessions at the Merredin Church. This is also the 5th Sunday Parish Weekend and the service will be held in Merredin.
LENTEVENT – During Lent we will focus on missions in the Newsletter and at a special Lenten Service on Wednesday evenings (in place of the Prayer Meeting). We will also be “giving up” something (morning tea, coffee, chocolate or something per your personal choice) to remember Jesus’ 40 days of fasting before beginning His ministry. It is a time of spiritual renewal which begins on February 22nd. The money saved from our denials will be collected after Lent and used to sponsor our young adults on a short term mission to India or to Cambodia.
SNAC (Sunday Night At Church) starts again this evening and will take place every 2nd and 4th Sunday evening at the Merredin Church. The focus this year will be on living out the reality of our faith. We start this evening with an examination of what “faith” really is, how we can have it and what we are supposed to do with it. Faith is the foundation for Christian living; without it nothing makes sense. In the series we will examine such areas as prayer, understanding Scripture, acknowledging prophecy, working within our spiritual gifting and so on.
BIBLE STUDY – The KYB Bible Studies in Merredin have started. Anyone wishing to join should contact Kay Snell (Monday morning group) or Debbie Tengvall (Wednesday evening group). These are both ladies groups. The Bible Study in Bruce Rock will start this Wednesday at 2pm at the church – we might change the time and venue.
I believe that this year will be a watershed in our walk with the Lord.
Expecting Revival!
David
